Research Day showcases world leading dental research carried out by our Honours, Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (DClinDent), Higher Degree Research (HDR) students and research staff.

It’s an innovative forum to come together and share our research findings with a wider audience, enabling networking and collaboration.

 

Keynote speakers

Professor Kiarash Khosrotehrani

Director, Frazer Institute. Affiliate of Dermatology Research Centre. Faculty of Health, Medicine and Behavioural Sciences

Professor Khosrotehrani is a clinical scientist and Director of the Frazer Institute at the University of Queensland, specializing in dermatology, skin biology, and regenerative medicine. He leads the Experimental Dermatology Group and practices at multiple hospitals. With MD and PhD degrees from prestigious institutions in Paris, he is a fellow of the Australian College of Dermatologists and the inaugural St Baker-Soyer Chair of Dermatology. His research on fetal stem cells and tissue repair has earned him multiple NHMRC awards. He is currently focused on clinical trials in wound healing and skin cancer.

Professor Pip Logan

Conjoint Co-Director, STARS Education & Research Alliance. Professor, School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences. Faculty of Health, Medicine and Behavioural Sciences

Professor Pip Logan is the co-director of the STARS Education and Research Alliance and Professor in Occupational Therapy with the School of Rehabilitation Sciences at UQ. Pip previously worked at the University of Nottingham, UK where she held the highest NIHR award, the Senior Investigator Award. Pip worked clinically as an occupational therapist in the community with people who have long term health conditions such as stroke, Parkinson’s Disease, frailty, musculoskeletal disorders, and dementia.  Her research interests are in line with her clinical role, and she has just completed the largest study in UK care homes, developing and evaluating a programme to prevent falls, funded by the National Institute for Health and Social Care Research (£2.2M). As the intervention was clinically and cost effective, she is now researching the implementation of the effective intervention.
