Head of the School of Dentistry Professor Saso Ivanovski and Dr Diep Ha were recognised at The International Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research (IADR) awards in New Orleans.

Professor Ivanovski received the 2024 IADR Distinguished Scientist Isaac Schour Memorial Award, one of the highest levels of recognition in dental research.

“I am both humbled and honoured to have received this award, “Professor Ivanovski said.

“While it is personally gratifying, I also see this award as recognition of the world-class research undertaken by my research group here at UQ’s School of Dentistry, as well as my many collaborators in Australia and internationally.

“It is also further motivation to continue with our research work, especially now that we are moving towards the clinical translation of our discoveries in finding unique solution to major issues in dentistry, such as personalized and precision approaches to managing gum disease and oral tissue reconstruction.

“It is the culmination of 30 years of research in the field of regenerative dentistry and clinical periodontology, and it makes me reflect on the many wonderful collaborations and friendships that have been formed along the way with my many research collaborators.”

Dr Diep Ha received the 2023 IADR John Clarkson Fellowship

Dr Diep Ha was named Winner of the 2024 IADR John Clarkson Fellowship, in recognition of her research understanding early life determinants of oral health to tackle socioeconomic inequalities over the lifecourse, and utilising causal inference in understanding determinants of oral health.

"I am very honoured to receive this award," Dr Ha said.

"The John Clarkson Fellowship presents an excellent opportunity for me to further my research career and expand the research capabilities of our research centre and contribute to the wider body of knowledge in dental public health worldwide."
