I'm Kyrillos, and I'm in my second year of dentistry at UQ. I embraced the warm and sunny lifestyle here in Brisbane, moving from Sydney, and I immediately fell in love with the university and the area. I am honoured to act as a student representative and be entrusted with your concerns, ideas, and opinions. My favourite part of the role is all the people I get to meet, converse with, and hear about their experiences studying dentistry. I’m always up for a chat and a laugh, so feel free to say hi if you see me around campus, and please do not hesitate to reach out to me via email if you would like to voice any concerns or have an idea.

As a final year Dentistry student here at UQ I have had the privilege of nurturing my passion for dentistry through the abundant opportunities and supportive environment here. Through my time at the uni, I have recognised how important support from the Uni can be in enriching my learning and experience as a student. So, I was more than happy to volunteer as a student representative when the opportunity arose to help provide students with more of the support that they would like. This role has allowed me to help connect students to members of staff who would of otherwise not heard their voice, as well as to organise events and initiatives to enhance the student experience. I am also passionate about helping newly minted 1st years students transition smoothly into Uni in my program. I love getting involved with representing students and turning their feedback into tangibles changes. Where I find my satisfaction is in seeing the positive impact I made through my role as a student rep. I would encourage those who would like to make a positive change to become student reps as well!

I am currently a first-year Doctor of Dental Medicine student. Moving from interstate and being among other postgraduate students has highlighted the challenges of adjusting to a new environment. That is why I'm dedicated to representing my peers, ensuring everyone feels supported and included, and that they enjoy a fulfilling student experience. I'm committed to advocating for initiatives that not only enhance our overall experience but also foster a sense of belonging and lifelong friendships. I am a full-time PhD candidate and an Associate Lecturer at the School of Dentistry. My research is centred around implementation science, focusing on researching system readiness, outcomes, and contextual factors when implementing evidence-based practices, programs, or healthcare policies in aged care for long-term sustainability. I am an actively engaged member of several research groups at the University of Queensland, including the Public Health Research Committee. Having travelled abroad and worked as a dental practitioner in various overseas countries, I have witnessed vast differences in access to health care, which ignited my passion for public health dentistry. These experiences have profoundly shaped my commitment to improving healthcare access and quality, particularly in underserved populations. My academic journey is driven by a passion for community collaboration and empowerment. I seek to build and strengthen relationships with people from all walks of life, aiming to foster an environment where community input and engagement are integral to the success of health initiatives. I strive to advocate for and assist those in need and encourage anyone to reach out to me for advice, mentoring or support.

I am a fourth-year student in the Bachelor of Dental Science (Honors) program at UQ. I proudly serve as both the 4th Year Representative as well as the Indigenous Representative. Additionally, I hold the role of Co-Goorie Officer across UQ campuses. My journey into student advocacy began early on when I joined the Student Executive Committee (SEC) during my second year. As an Indigenous Representative, I am deeply committed to supporting fellow Indigenous students at UQ. I understand the unique challenges and perspectives that Indigenous students may face, and I strive to be a resource and advocate for their needs within the university community. In my role as the 4th Year Representative, I am keenly attuned to the specific concerns and experiences of fourth-year students within the BDSc program. From navigating the transition into clinical practice to managing the demands of advanced coursework, I am here to provide support, resources, and a voice for fourth-year students. While my academic focus is dental science, my passion for helping others extends to ensuring a supportive environment for all students.

I am a first year DMD student, of the first ever cohort. The University has provided a captivating environment, allowing me to learn from distinguished professors, interact with like-minded individuals, and connect with people from diverse cultures, all enriching my journey. This closes nature of our cohort, and the uncertainty as trail blazers has led to my genuine desire to represent my fellow peers and the students that follow. I am open to any questions or queries in our course and will ensure that the student voice is heard.

I'm originally from Sydney and had initially moved to the sunny state of Queensland for my undergraduate dentistry degree. However, I loved the people and the relaxed environment, that I decided to stay and work as a dentist here. I have always been passionate about learning, and this led me to pursue further studies with a DClinDent program. I hope that everyone in this program has a positive and fulfilling experience and will look back on these precious three years with fond memories.

I’m currently in my second year of the Doctor of Clinical Dentistry program which is training to be a dental specialist. Our degree is probably one of the smallest around, but we cover disciplines from orthodontics, oral pathology/medicine, endodontics, prosthodontics, and periodontics (my specialty). Returning to UQ and study after being a dentist for over 10 years has been exciting and fulfilling. I wish to be an advocate for my peers and an avenue for those wishing to find out more about dentistry and the pathway to specialising.
