A guide for soft tissue management: Hands-on course

This is a two-day course that will provide participants with the knowledge and skills of basic mucogingival therapy around teeth and implants. 

This course is directed at the dental practitioner looking to:

• Understand the importance of soft tissue around teeth and implants to maintain periodontal and peri-implant health.
• Develop diagnostic skills in assessing soft tissue defects around teeth and implants.
• Understand different soft tissue grafting materials and their clinical indications for use.
• Understand and develop surgical techniques for mucogingival therapy including practice of CAF, FGG, CTG, CTG + CAF, various harvest techniques, xenograft placement and suture techniques.

Associate Professor Ryan Lee PhD, MClinDent (Perio)
FPFA, ITI (Fellow)

Associate Professor Ryan Lee is the Head of Periodontology at the School of Dentistry, The University of Queensland. He has published multiple papers in the peer-reviewed international journals, and regularly lectures nationally and internationally. Ryan is a current President for Australian Society of Periodontics (ASP), He was awarded the André Schröder Research Prize in 2022.

Professor ROF Sašo Ivanoski PhD, MDSc (Perio)
FICD, FPFA, FADI, ITI (Senior Fellow)

Professor Sašo Ivanovski is the Dean of the School of Dentistry at The University of Queensland, Australia, where he is also Professor of Periodontology and Director of the Centre for Orofacial Regeneration, Reconstruction and Rehabilitation (COR3). He has published over 250 papers in the peer-reviewed literature and leads an internationally recognized research group focusing on regenerative dentistry and tissue engineering, as well as clinical periodontics and implant dentistry.

Adjunct Associate Professor Tino Mercado (DocMedDent, GCClinDent
(Oral Path – UQ), MDSc (Perio), MRACDS, PhD, FPFA, FICD)

Adjunct Associate Professor Tino Mercado has been practicing as a Periodontist for more than 20 years and has private practices in Penrith and the Blue Mountains (Specialist Periodontal and Implant Centre). Tino holds an Adjunct Associate Professor position at the University of Queensland. He is the NSW Councillor for the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Periodontists and Periodontal examiner at the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (RACDS).
