Researcher biography

In 2024, Dr Hisham Mohammed relocated to Brisbane to lead the Discipline of Orthodontics at the University of Queensland. He earned his dental degree from Future University, followed by a Master's in Orthodontics with Distinction from the University of Dundee. He completed his PhD at the University of Otago, where his research focused on studying the impact of malocclusion on smile aesthetics. He also holds the prestigious Specialty Membership in Orthodontics from the Royal Colleges of Surgeons of England and Glasgow.

Dr. Mohammed's research interests include evidence-based orthodontics, smile analysis, artificial intelligence in orthodontics, and treatment outcomes involving miniscrew implants. His work has earned wide recognition, attracting extramural funds and prestigious accolades such as the Sir John Walsh Research Award.
