The vision of the Ali3B group is to design smart biomaterials with multifunctional characteristics as an alternative substitute for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine that can be utilized to address challenges in biomedical applications.

Research focus

Biomedical materials play an integral role in regenerative medicine - restoring function and facilitating healing for people after injury or disease. Biodegradable materials, also known as bioresorbable or bioabsorbable materials, are compatible with human tissues and degrade to nontoxic by-products. These biomaterials have attracted a great deal of attention in biomedical fields owing to their advantages over non-biodegradable ones. Our research focus is to design smart biomaterials that can meet the potential requirements for biomedical applications. We aim to design and fabricate new biodegradable metal alloys and polymer composite based alloys suitable for clinical application, with a focus on bone and dental applications.
