Atraumatic extraction of primary teeth and suturing techniques Workshop
This practical workshop aims to provide the fundamental knowledge and experience for the atraumatic extraction of primary teeth. Hands-on experience in the UQ Oral Health Centre will be provided, applying the knowledge learnt in the online atraumatic CPD course. Practitioners will gain experience in the appropriate selection and use of extraction forceps and elevators, as well as suturing techniques.
The workshop learning objectives include:
- Select appropriate instrumentation to facilitate the removal of primary teeth including elevators, luxators and forceps
- Demonstrate appropriate techniques for atraumatic removal of primary teeth
- Identify instrumentation required for the safe removal of sutures
- Place and remove sutures using appropriate techniques
Course teachers:
Jessica is a General Dental Practitioner, Associate Lecturer and Dental Officer at the UQ Oral Health Centre. Jessica has completed further studies including a Bachelor of Science (Honours), Graduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education, a Graduate Diploma in Clinical Dentistry (Surgical Dentistry) and a Master of Clinical Dentistry (Oral Surgery). She teaches the discipline of oral surgery to the undergraduate dental students. In 2020, Jessica received a Commendation for Substantive Contributions to Student Learning by UQ. | Dr Nicole Stormon is a Lecturer at the University of Queensland and AHPRA registered Oral health therapist. She is the current President of the Australian Dental and Oral Health Therapists Association (ADOHTA Ltd) and works as a clinical Oral Health Therapist for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Health Service (ATSICHS) Brisbane. Nicole Stormon has publications in high quality journals, numerous conference presentation and research collaborations. |

- When: Friday 16 September 2022, 8.30 to 12.30pm
- Course pre-requisite: Prior to attending this course you are required to have successfully completed the ONLINE CPD course on Atraumatic Extraction of Primary teeth. You can register here to complete the online course and attend the workshop. If you have completed the online course you can also register for the workshop only.

- Online CPD pre-requisite and workshop: $550
- Workshop only (successfully completed UQ online atraumatic course): $450
- Morning tea will be provided.
ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS: Prior to attending this course you are required to have successfully completed the ONLINE CPD course on Atraumatic Extraction of Primary teeth. Attendees must provide evidence of current and complete vaccination for COVID-19 on the day of the event. Entry into the event facilities will be declined if attendees fail to provide vaccination evidence on the day and will not be eligible for a refund under the cancellation policy.
CANCELLATION POLICY: We require at least 72 hours’ notice of the cancellation in order to provide a full refund. Any cancellations that occur between 72 hours and 24 hours of this event will receive a 50% refund. Any cancellations that occur within 24 hours of this event will not be refunded.
