Our state-of-the-art teaching dental clinic offers affordable general dental services, primarily provided by our student body. Our students practice with direct supervision from experienced dental professional practitioners registered with the AHPRA.

Whether you need routine cleaning, filling, or more extensive dental work, our team of skilled dental students are here to provide comprehensive oral health care.

Emergency care

At this time, the UQ Herston Dental Clinic does not currently provide emergency advice or emergency appointments.

Patients seeking free public dental care or emergency care who hold a Pensioner Concession Card, Department of Veterans Affairs, Centrelink Health Care, Commonwealth Seniors Card, Queensland Seniors Card, or Child Dental Benefits Schedule please make an appointment at the Oral Health Centre, Metro North patient clinics.

Availability

UQ Herston Dental Clinic will run year-round (excluding public holidays and between Christmas and New Years Day) from 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Pricing

As the clinical services take place in a teaching environment, we will offer affordable dental services, providing high-quality dental care at a fraction of the cost. For these student-delivered services, please be aware we cannot provide private health rebates or accept concession cards. 

In complex cases, a patient may be best supported by one of our registered dentists. This pricing is a fraction of the cost and will be discussed with you at the time of your examination. Services provided by the Clinic are not usually eligible for rebates provided by major private health funds. It is the responsibility of the client to contact their particular fund to enquire if they might receive a rebate.

Parking

On-street parking is available along Herston Road and Gilchrist Avenue.  Time limits and parking meters may apply. For more information, please see our Parking at Herston page

Off-street paid parking is available in the  STARS Hospital Car Park 296 Herston Road Herston (Opposite Busway Herston Road).

Disability parking permits

Persons With Disability (PWD) parking spaces are reserved for people with an Australian or red disability parking permit. You can park in the designated PWD bays or in any other parking space other than Restricted or Reserved bays. 

You must clearly display the permit so the permit number and expiry date are visible from outside the vehicle.

Valid overseas and interstate disability parking permits may be used on campus, and are equivalent to the Australian permit. Queensland parking rules apply.

Public transport

The Oral Health Centre (OHC) is across the street from the Herston (Northern busway) station. The busway provides convenient access to public transport networks throughout Brisbane, with buses to the north and the south travelling frequently at every four minutes during normal business hours. 

Travel by train 

Roma Street Station is the most convenient station with a direct link to the Oral Health Centre via Platform One. The journey from Roma Street Station to the Herston (Northern busway) station is a zone 1 journey. 

You can also walk to the Oral Health Centre from the Fortitude Valley (Brunswick Street) Train Station. The walk is approximately 20 minutes via Brunswick Street and Bowen Bridge Road (approximately 1.5 km). 

Travel by bus 

The Oral Health Centre is across the street from Herston Bus Station on the Inner Northern Busway.  This station is serviced by buses on routes 330, 333, 340, 363, 376, 66 and 933. 

Bramston Terrace at Weightman Street, stop 9, is also a stop directly in front of the Oral Health Centre. This stop is serviced by buses on routes 360, 361, 364 and S748. 

Buses leave regularly from platforms 1D and 1E at King George Square Busway Station.
