Dalby and St George Rural Clinics
The School of Dentistry has partnered with Goondir Health Services to provide dental services to the communities of Dalby and St George. The rural clinics are a unique point of difference from the other Queensland dental Schools. These satellite clinics are attached to the Oral Health Centre in Brisbane and provide residents of Dalby, St George, and the wider Western Downs region with dental care.
Established in 2013, our Dalby Clinic houses five dental chairs and in-house digital x-ray equipment. Our St George Clinic commenced operations in June 2017, offering four dental chairs and in-house x-ray equipment, additionally, both clinics are fitted with intra-oral radiology units and orthopantomograms.
The patient experience at the Dalby and St George clinics is similar to attending a private dental practitioner only, the oral healthcare is provided by fifth-year students of the Bachelor of Dental Science (Honours) program under the supervision of a registered, experienced dental practitioner. The clinics are a teaching setting, for professional students in-training during their final year.
We are committed to providing the highest standard of care to our patients.
The clinics are situated within the Goondir Health Services, the buildings are owned by Goondir however, the School of Dentistry provides and maintains the fit out. Appointment availability and treatment are assessed on the basis of student learning requirements.
Emergency appointments are provided where possible and are assessed on the same criteria. If you require urgent dental treatment out of operating hours, please contact a practice that offers a full suite of emergency services. A range of common dental services are available, and members of the public interested in becoming a patient of the clinic should contact clinic reception.
We are grateful for the support received through the Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training (RHMT) program which is a commonwealth-funded platform whereby health students are encouraged to train in rural and remote communities, a beneficial way to support students to undertake their placement in rural communities to promote employment opportunities outside metropolitan areas.
