The Centre for Orofacial Regeneration, Reconstruction and Rehabilitation aims to be a centre of excellence that advances orofacial regeneration, reconstruction and rehabilitation to improve patient outcomes through the highest quality research and education.
The COR3 vision
Global knowledge leader for orofacial regeneration, reconstruction and rehabilitation.
Our mission
Our purpose is to be a centre of excellence that advances orofacial regeneration, reconstruction and rehabilitation to improve patient outcomes through the highest quality research and education. We engage with society, industry and the profession to drive learning, innovation and discovery.
Group for Anodized Therapies for Osseointegration, Regeneration and Stimulation (GATORs)
Our research focuses on nano-engineering of dental implants to enable local drug release and enhanced bioactivity, targeting dental implant failure, especially associated with ongoing conditions (osteoporosis, diabetes, aged patients and smokers).
Epigenetic nanodiagnostics and therapeutics
The epigenetic nanodiagnostics and therapeutics group aims to develop novel precise epigenetics diagnoses and therapies to treat periodontal disease – a highly prevalent gum disease.

UQ Oral Microbiomics for Learning and Application
The vision of uQOLA Research Group is to develop host-microbiome modulation therapy through unravelling the molecular mechanisms underpinning oral diseases and oral-systemic link.
Biomanufacturing and regenerative dentistry
Our vision is to address unmet clinical needs by the utilisation of regenerative medicine technologies for dental and orthopaedic applications. Our group investigates the effect of scaffold composition and degradation timeframe on the maintenance of previously augmented bone.
Biomanufacturing and regenerative dentistry
The Ivanovski Tissue Engineering and Additive Manufacturing
The Ivanovski Tissue Engineering and Additive Manufacturing (iTEAM) research stream works at the forefront of innovation in regenerative medicine, restoring native oro-dental tissue form and function through the application of novel materials and manufacturing technologies to tissue engineering.
Immunoengineering for Regenerative Dentistry
Our research integrates stem cell technology, osteoimmunology, biomedical engineering, and biomaterial science to achieve the physical and functional restoration of dental and oral tissues.
Immunoengineering for Regenerative Dentistry
Clinical Research Units
The purpose of these Units is to promote and facilitate clinical research activities in the School of Dentistry, The University of Queensland, and Oral Health Centre, Queensland Health Metro-North Hospital and Health Service.
Peters’ Regenerative Opportunities in COR3
Our group aims to improve oral health through endodontic therapies that maintain and rebuild healthy tissue compartments.
COR3 works with various partners to achieve high quality outcomes for our stakeholders. COR3 researchers collaborate actively in both clinical and research settings, with ongoing projects with internal (UQ CCR, UQ QBI, UQ Medicine, TRI, AIBN), external (QUT, Griffith, Deakin, Adelaide), and international universities, along with prominent industry partners (Geistlich Pharma/Biomaterials, Straumann Group, Colgate Palmolive).
As partners with Metro North Hospital and Health Service in the Oral Health Alliance and the Herston Biofabrication Institute, we are building a unique hub of expertise in Brisbane.
Institutes and centres
COR3 works closely with The Herston Biofabrification Institute (HBI), The Oral Health Alliance (OHA), and the Translational Research Institute (TRI).
